Craft Abstracts came about as a artist-mom, helping my child make fusible bead crafts. This outsider, banal material and its specific square pegboard, all meant for children, struck me as a compositional puzzle with possibilities for color theory, form, movement, and expression of senses. This everyday material was prime to queer into abstract expressionism, and could be elevated to its potential art object greatness to be forever enshrined in minature acrylic vitrines. I made 30 abstractions in 30 boxes. All 30 were shown as a grid as a storefront installation, as well as a solo exhibition at Core Gallery, and the City of Seattle Mayor's Gallery.
